Home Remedies to Get Rid of Sunburn

When the living tissues of the skin get burnt or destroyed due to too much exposure to Ultra-Violet radiation of the sun, sunburn occurs. Similar burns can occur from sun equivalent sources like welding arcs or tanning lamps. People who are out in beaches, who go for fishing or work in yards are exposed to scorching sun for several hours and usually get sun burnt. With over-exposure to ultra-violet radiation, the melanin loses its power to protect the skin, and the skin becomes vulnerable, and highly sensitive. Ultra violet radiation plays havoc on this vulnerable skin, tanning it and making it wrinkled. Thus sunburn makes a person look dark and older than his years.

This explains why people staying close to equator are so dark complexioned. The symptoms of sunburn are noticeable within half an hour of over exposure to sun. Sunburn is seldom severe, but there are also instances of few worst cases where even death or permanent disability has occurred due to sunburn. Too much of sunburn can lead to sun poisoning and skin cancer. Fair-skinned people, people with prior history of skin injury, people with sensitive skin and those under certain specific antibiotics are more susceptible to sunburns. To stay away from sunburn, one should use sun glasses, sunscreen lotions, umbrella, broad brimmed hat, wear light-colored attire.

There are few things in the world that are more annoying than a persistently buzzing mosquito, always just out of reach until it swoops in and bites you when you’re not looking. When a mosquito bites, it injects saliva containing an anticoagulant that prevents your blood from clotting. The itchy red swelling that results is caused by an allergic reaction to the mosquito’s saliva. While for many of us this is just an annoyance, mosquitoes in some parts of the world carry malaria, West Nile virus, dengue fever, yellow fever, encephalitis, and other serious diseases. Even in safer parts of the world, many people have stronger allergic reactions, producing itchy welts. Often, mosquitoes hone in on certain individuals, leaving others entirely alone.

In any event, there are many ways to avoid bites in the first place. Mosquitoes routinely swarm at dusk; sometimes, they appear in the thousands just as the sun is going down, then disappear after 30 minutes. Especially if you are allergic or seem to attract mosquitoes, stay in a screened porch. Or, apply an insect repellent; most repellents can be used quite safely. DEET, for instance, is the active ingredient in many repellents; it keeps away an array of biting insects including mosquitoes, gnats, midges, and sand flies. Another common repellent is citronella oil, obtained by the steam distillation of freshly cut grasses. You can rub this onto your exposed skin as a lotion, or apply as a spray.

Sweating is a natural function that allows your body to stay cool. So sweating is a good thing. But excessive sweating or hyperhidrosis is a problem. This seems to be a problem for most people. The excessive sweating is usually at the armpit region and at the palm. It is always important to look neat and fresh wherever you may be.

Let us look at a few examples as to why: If you are at the end of your major business presentation and are shaking hands leaving sweat on others, your peers and superiors will consider you filthy. In my quest to have healthy children and a healthy home I have gained so much knowledge and I was asking myself

‘Why didn’t I know this and why didn’t anyone tell me sooner?’

Our History

Both of my girls have been diagnosed with Coeliac Disease around Christmas 2010, the change to a Gluten Free diet has been great. Initially it was overwhelming as I cook because we need to eat not because I have a passion for cooking.

Breanna would have terrible pain in the tummy several times a day to the point she would tense up from it. Since removing Gluten it improved a lot but did not disappear. A doctor advised me she would have to learn to control it. Breanna suffers from ulcers quite regularly and in my research I found that as they are reoccurring she may have vitamin deficiencies, including iron deficiency, and folate, zinc, or vitamin B12 deficient. When I asked the doctor about this I was advised that her latest blood tests showed nothing lacking other than a slight lacking in Protein. Breanna also has a mild case of Cerebral Palsy and has accomplished so much in her young life that if I can do anything to make the rest of her health better I will.

Reflux is described as the occurrence wherein the stomach contents go back up to the food pipe or esophagus or even to the mouth. There is a backflow of food from the stomach upward towards the esophagus. Reflux is the main symptom in Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease or GERD. This may be caused by an increased intake of acidic foods or immediately lying down after meals. Persistent reflux may be due to abnormal biologic or structural factors. The most common factor for reflux is the malfunctioning of the lower esophageal sphincter, the one that acts as a pressure barrier against the contents from the stomach.

For adults, the common symptoms are heartburn, regurgitation and difficulty swallowing. Heartburn is a burning sensation of the chest or behind the breastbone or rather painful in the esophagus. The pain rises to the chest and may radiate to the neck and throat. The other one is regurgitation, which is the flow or expulsion of material or material back up to the mouth. Lastly, difficulty swallowing, also known as dysphagia, is a sensation that suggests a difficulty in the passage of solid or liquid foods from the mouth towards the esophagus.
